Carter G. Woodson

Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950) is a historian and journalist known as the Father of Black History. He founded the Association for the Study of African American Life and History and the Journal of Negro History. Woodson’s accomplishments are also remembered through the University of Virginia’s Carter G. Woodson Institute for African American and African Studies, and the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
